Q: What is the Cryptopia Coin Rating System?
A: It's a new approach, currently under development. It will constantly evolve, be tweaked, and fine tuned.

Q: Ok, but what will it do?

A: It wont actually... _do_ anything, It'll be a purely informational indication of the overall rating of a coin based on a composite of a comprehensive list of factors.

Q: What kind of factors will influence a coin's rating?
A: Over time the rating system will grow and be tweaked and fine tuned as we make a more and more comprehensive list of factors.

Q: Yeah ok, but what kind of factors will influence a coin's rating?

A: Things like, does it have compiled wallets for various platforms? Does it have a third party block explorer or other services? Does it have a website or active dev and community somewhere? Is it a premine? Is it an ICO? How much was premined or ICO? How much good and bad karma has it received from users with one vote per user? And anything else cool and appropriate we can add.

Q: Why?

A: Because son, I can't stop you doing drugs, but you should at least do them in a safe environment having made an informed decision.

Q: So that's it? It's just a 5 star rating on all coins? How is the rating going to be determined?
A: Each coin will start with 1000 points, different factors will subtract points, like maybe -5 points per % premined or -50 points for no windows wallet, or no mac wallet etc, this is the stuff that will be subject to fine tuning as I mentioned before. The final score will be used to determine a 0-5 star rating for each coin.

Q: Will DOT be a 5 star coin?

A: Probably not, not yet anyway.

Q: Can I make suggestions for factors that make a coin better or worse?
A: Yeah sure, reply to this thread and discuss.

okay .. why not?

this >> https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo

already is a good clue in to coin health

I would suggest:

-divide into 5 or 6 sectors

... so distro, premine, fast mine, ninja mine stuff calculated in one specific sector, hash rate node count in another sector, market volitity, volume, in another

other data points

  • MA30day MA90day MA360
  • ,trade volume past 30days
  • github (no github -999)
  • reddit/twitter activity (some service monitors and counts that stuff)
  • node count past 24hr
  • # of B.E. (and point rated 1-5)
  • days since genesis block
  • # of exchanges listing (and point rated 1-5) ... so polo is a 5, southX a 1, yobit a 0, topia 4 ;)
  • yeah compiled wallets ... hard to grade quality, harder to keep up to date if they release multiple versions
  • (so maybe cryptopia hosts official declared virus free wallet downloads ... charge $5 in DOTs ... or $1 in DOTS to update link to community declared 'official' download)
  • name of dev(s)
  • official website
  • bitcointalk thread (no points just a health indicator)
  • B.E. data ... # of nonzero accounts, #transactions
  • coin inflation data (cost per day = rewards/24*spot price)

good and bad karma << that maybe the coolest idea

had another thought on how to rate "Cryptopia Coins"TM

1 = new guys, won a listing in auction

2= new guys, paid 5M for instant add

3= traded +90days no network issues, and have an official "Cryptopia Node"TM

4= trade +180days no issues, official Node, and Cryptopia mining pool

5= top level and well traded beyond Cryptopia

reason is THUS;

investors need to know "The Rules", before it was if it is listed on Cryptopia then it is not going to be delisted

well okay, some juck coins got in, dead wood needed trimming

i would politely suggest "Cryptopia Coins"TM ratings mean delisting standards.

THUS;

level 1 coins get delisted after 30 days no nodes

level 2 coins get delisted after 90 days no nodes

level 3 coins don't get delisted because they have an node ... maybe payable in DOTs by crowd funding

level 4 no delisting ... so after having +180days of trading communities can win a mineshaft by vote or directly buy a DOTs paid mining shaft

level 5 ... solid GOLD ... never ever delist ... Cryptopia garantees at least a seed node and a mining shaft a a trade listing ... DOTs would be the example, Quark or World coin might be at this level too.

So in that model a level 4 could possibly get delisted, but very unlikely, it would need to prosper for months and appear legit all the way, then go into complete abandonment, fail to renew mining and node subscriptions and then go 90days of dead network.  The whole time it has rating droppings to alert investors over a period of many months.

easier approach simply don't list any coins that are even slighlty dodgy, then no need to be delsiting or warning anyone :)

Is it possible to add last time received a block on coin info ?

eg:

Current Block: 1344324

Current Block: 13344324 (received 6 hours ago /or/ received 2 mins ago)

Would be good eg for BOLI no new block since 13 days (no new block found) or for others when wallet have a problem or not synch eg: i withdraw BLK but not received on my home wallet after investigating i see cryptopia BLK current block is 6 hours old compared on BLK explorer

same with me and vcc, cryptopia has send tx, but is not connected to any node, and so my tx is in limbo for some time now.
