What is the Cryptopia Authenticator?

How much do the devices cost?
The authenticator's have a one off cost of 35 NZDT including shipping and handling.
How do they work?
The authenticator is tied to your account and generates one time pin numbers in a similar fashion to Google Authenticator.
What happens if I lose my device?
You can reset your two factor via the normal means through a support ticket. If you want a replacement authenticator you will have to buy another one.
How long will my device last?
The battery in the authenticator is rated for 5 years.
Why is the code on my device not working?
The codes the authenticator generates are one time only, if you've already used the code you will need to generate a new code, you can do this by turning the authenticator off and on again or waiting 60 seconds for the new code.
Can I use the Cryptopia authenticator for two factor on other sites?
No.
Setting up your Cryptopia Authenticator
You will need:
- A Cryptopia account. Don't have one? Sign up here.
- A Cryptopia Authenticator. Don't have one? Get yours here.
How To:
- Hover over your username in the top right of the menu bar and click the
button. - In the account menu, on the left, click the
button. - Under Login TwoFactor click the
button. - In the Type drop down box select Cryptopia Device.
5. The below window will be displayed. You need to enter the Serial Number from the back of your device and the current authentication code displayed on the front, then click the Activate Device button
6. Once your device is activated you need to click the Submit button to finalize your two factor.
7. Congratulations! Your Cryptopia Authenticator has been configured for your Login Two Factor.

You can use the same Cryptopia Authenticator as Two Factor for the other options; Settings, Withdrawals, Lockouts, Transfers and Tips. We recommend that you setup both Login and Withdrawal two factor at minimum.

Yeah there's a QR code that you can print out, or you could just write out the string of letters and numbers underneath it which is the same thing. It's the same idea with bitcoin private keys.

Your phone can get hacked which can compromise your 2FA- the crypto device cannot be hacked since it is an offline device.

I have a problem with Google Authenticator, i´m not able to log in since i´ve set it. Wrong code is all i get, despite the fact i´ve resync it. Anybody who had this problem and already fixed it, please??i´m not getting response from support mail

If you are wondering which 2FA to use:
Email - potentially your email could get hacked. This would give access to your account if your password is also compromised.
Google Authenticator - Probably the second most secure option from this list. It may be possible for the google authenticator to become compromised
or access gained if you loose your phone.
Pin number - keystroke logger may compromise this option.
Password - keystroke logger may compromise this option.
Security Questions - Good questions that only you know th answer to would probably be the third most secure option. keystroke logger may compromise this option.
Cryptopia device - The most secure option. This is an offline device so does not have the risks associated with some of the other options.
Use a unique long password (e.g. five or six random words with number, capital and symbols).
Do not use the password on any other website.
Any 2FA option is better than no 2FA enabled. Best 2FA option is a Crytopia device.

just came in butt does nothing :( damn. do you need to activate the device. no battery included or is mine dead on arrival ?
opend up the device and the battery is loose. solderd it back on and now i get a sequence of numbers that does stop after a few minutes. the numbers are 111111,333333,555555,888888. and again from the beginning. the bat indicator does the same starting low bat to half and full.
Can i get a replacement ? or must i send it back ?
